Formation and Ranks within the Order
We are calling individuals of good standing who feel a calling to serve, support the poor, deepen their faith, or live uprightly. At Knights of Saint Thomas, glory is not sought, titles do not matter, and power is irrelevant, only devotion, honour, and service guide our path.
Interested applicants begin as:
- Novice – A period of formation and preparation.
- Sergeant – Completion of initial training and the Order’s online course.
- Knight or Dame – Full investiture as a member living by the chivalric rule.
- Knight/Dame Commander and Knight/Dame Grand Cross – Senior ranks entrusted with leadership and greater service.
Each stage represents a deeper level of dedication and spiritual maturity, as well as a path to receive the cloak, insignia, and regalia of our fellowship.
The Sacred Investiture Ceremony
Upon successful completion of the probation period, you will be formally invested into the Order during the Investiture Ceremony - a sacred rite rich in symbolism and Christian meaning.
During this solemn event, you will receive your insignia, including the KST neck badge and the white cloak adorned with the red cross and the white scallop shell at its center — the regalia of our brotherhood. This cloak and insignia represent humble service, spiritual fraternity, and unwavering dedication to Christ and His Church.
A Lifelong Vocation of Faith and Service
Becoming part of Knights of Saint Thomas is a ceremonial or honorary title. It is a lifelong vocation — a journey of spiritual growth, discipline, and Christian service. We do not grant Christian knighthood for prestige or worldly gain. Instead, we welcome with open arms those who truly desire to wear our regalia, to embrace the path of chivalry by accepting investiture into our brotherhood, and to live as modern knights and ladies of the faith, in service to their communities.

- Be a Christian and committed to Christian ethics and values
- Be at least 21 years old
- Be a permanent resident in England or hold a legally recognized noble or hereditary title within England
- Have a clean criminal record and demonstrate honourable character and integrity
- Be willing and able to participate in religious ceremonies and charitable activities
Duties and Expectations
All members of our chivalric order solemnly pledge to uphold the moral and spiritual values of the Order. Each knight must:
- Observe the Constitution of the Order fully and freely
- Participate in charitable work, educational workshops and fundraising efforts
- Attend investitures, annual meetings, and international gatherings as often as possible
- Promote Christian unity, embracing all denominations represented within the Order
- Be a support to fellow members, particularly in times of need
